Ebook: Q&A

Ebook Q&A

What is a PDF ebook?

A PDF Ebook is really just another format like the hardback and paperback but in electronic form. It can be downloaded and read, on a variety of devices: on desktop or laptop computers, certain personal digital assistant (PDAs), and on dedicated eBook reading devices like the Kindle 2. Ebook readers have many features that are simply not available with standard printed text.

Your PDF Ebook is readable with a free PDF reader like Acrobat Reader, Adobe® Digital Editions, or Foxit Reader.

Foxit Reader is small (3.5 MB) but features almost everything Adobe Acrobat Reader has. This free PDF viewer allows users to view and print out their PDF documents.

Adobe® Digital Editions
You can also download free Adobe® Digital Editions software which offers an engaging way to view and manage eBooks and other digital publications.

Do I have to be online to read my Ebook?

No. Once downloaded, your Ebook can be read off-line.

Why PDF?
PDF retains the design of the printed book, including all the different fonts, photos, captions and graphics. Another advantage of the PDF format is that it can be read on any platform: there are free PDF viewers for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Unix, handheld computers (PDA), etc. PDF files are so widely available and used nowadays that most people already have them on their systems.

How do I pay for my Ebook?
Your Ebook can be purchased online with either a Mastercard or Visa credit card. Our Shopping Cart allows you to choose among PayPal Standard/PayPal Pro, Google Checkout, TrialPay, or Authorize.Net for your checkout.

What is Digital Rights Management (DRM)?
DRM is an encryption layer that attempts to prevent the illegal copying, printing, or sharing of Ebooks. We believe that forbidding buyers from printing or copy-pasting content from an eBook that they have paid for is unfair so we don’t support it.

What is PDF Security Stamping?
We stamp your name, email and their unique Transaction ID on the top-left of each page of your Ebook PDF before you download it. Unlike DRM (Digital Rights Management), this is a simple, non-intrusive way to discourage buyers from sharing their PDFs. Unlike the various DRM solutions we investigated, our PDF Stamping feature allows a pleasant and hassle-free buyer experience and produces a file that all PDF reader software can handle without any trouble.

How long will it take to download my Ebook?
The file is approximately 8.8MB which is quite large because of all the illustrations. Download times will vary depending on your internet connection but may take several minutes. Also, you may need to wait a minute for your Ebook to be digitally stamped with your individual details.

Can I read my ebook on my Kindle 2?
Yes, Kindle 2 now comes with the native PDF support that appeared in the DX, including the possibility of rotating the screen for wide-format viewing. Simply copy your PDF ebook to the device using a USB connection.

We provide one download of the ebook. You can make a backup copy by clicking the ‘save a copy’ button when you download your ebook.
